SALINAS HEADLINES MAIN EVENT ON “KING OF THE CAGE” PAY PER VIEW

NORMAN, OK. -- If you’re trying to get a hold of MMA fighter Danny Salinas and are having no luck, the first place you might want to look is the gym.

The Edinburg native has been busy training for one of the biggest fights of his career as he will face Tim Means (15-3-1) for Means’ Jr. Welterweight title in the main event of “King of the Cage” pay-per-view show on March 17th in Norman, Oklahoma

Salinas (11-3) said he is really excited about receiving an opportunity like this.

“I don’t think I have ever been this excited about a fight as I am for this one,” said Salinas.  “I would definitely say I’m focused the prize that is on the line.”

“This is a big opportunity and he is not going to just give me the title. I’m going to have to go in there and take it.”

While Salinas prepares for this fight, he said he really doesn’t know much about Means or the style he possesses.

“My opponent is a tall guy and that’s all I really know about him,” said Salinas.  “I don’t study the guys I fight too much because it messes with my mind.  I let my trainers worry about that and they tell me what to do and I do it.  We all feel that I am right on track physically and mentally for this fight.”

With Salinas recently turning 30, he was asked again if he has any plans to retire soon.

“I’m taking one fight at a time,” said Salinas.  “It will be a hard decision but when I’m ready to walk away, I will walk away. “

“However, with the momentum I am having in my career, I don’t think that decision may not come anytime soon.   If I should win this fight and become champion, I hope that it will open the doors to bigger MMA factions such as Strike Force or the UFC.”

Salinas has the chance once again to live up to his nickname “Dangerous” and hopes he is successful.  “What makes me so dangerous is that I have nothing to lose,” said Salinas. “I’m backing him up against the wall because he has more to lose due to the fact he is defending the title.”
